On the tail fin of a certain 1958 Convair 880 private plane are the emblazoned golden letters T C B with an equally golden lightning bolt. The letters were an acronym for the lifelong philosophy that a certain well-known entertainer lived by. You could say that it was his mantra.
Those letters were such a core part of this young man’s life that he had them cast into a solid gold pendant he wore around his neck, and a solid gold ring he often wore. Members of his “comeback” band in 1968, and touring band afterwards would become known as the “TCB Band,” and would follow him until his untimely death in 1977.
Elvis Presley squeezed every drop out of his time on this earth. He was scared to death to step onto the stage each night but was more afraid to not perform. The joy he received from connecting to every man or woman that spent a week’s pay to see him on a stage in Las Vegas far exceeded the pain of getting through each tortuous moment, even until his final days. “Taking Care of Business in a Flash” or TCB, was the life he chose. I can relate.
Obviously, I’m no Elvis Presley, but I have a mantra of my own: DCT. I don’t have those letters cast in solid gold – I couldn’t afford that on my best days, but every bit of me feels each letter as if they were molded into my soul. When I say “Dreams Come True” to you, you better know I believe it. It’s happening right now.
In October, and for the next year, I step into the vast and frightening unknown as I turn the keys and open the door to my own dream coming true and introduce the Vegas Valley to the Black Lotus Cabaret, inside the Pass Casino in Henderson. It’s a 200-seat showroom that I hope will make the dreams of others come true, too.
From night to night, we will welcome a star to the stage, share a cocktail with a friend, or introduce the world to an undiscovered talent. I’m hoping you’ll join me on this amazing journey and together, we can make many dreams come true. I’m already living mine…
